Nearly 17.4 million Americans downloaded a video game to their mobile device during the fourth quarter of last year, per Telephia, San Francisco. This was up 45% compared to Q4 2005. This accounted for $151 million in revenue for the providers of these games—up 61%. EA mobile, a division of the No. 1 video game publisher Electronic Arts, is the biggest on-portal game provider with 28% of the total revenue. Gameloft and Glu Mobile each have 11% with a number of smaller players rounding out the mix of roughly 90 mobile game publishers.
