ZenZui and its Xbox Attitude

Met with ZenZui last week. This Microsoft offshoot solemnly swears it will make surfing the mobile Web easier. Its application, which is free to consumers for an invite only beta this summer, allows them to create and share "tiles." These are essentially graphical, tile-shaped bookmarks "that capture and present the content that’s important to the user in a unique and new way that's not just linking them to the Web," per vp-marketing Cindy Spodek Dickey. ZenZui is device agnostic and is currently in beta. It's planning a 2008 launch. Rock star marketer Spodek Dickey helped launch the original Xbox and promises to change the way we all use the mobile Web. Anyone who knows Cindy knows she just might do it.

Coca-Cola Bottles Up Mobile Content

Coca-Cola is adding a beverage to the mobile Web’s serving of snackable content. Mobile users who click on their mobile ads can view Coca-Cola’s “Bottle Films” on their cell phones. These are consumer-created videos of what individuals personally interpret as the “The Coke Side of Life.” Consumer videos are chosen for their creativity and winners receive prizes such as computers and digital cameras for their efforts. The ads include both graphical and text formats on mobile Web pages and use AdMob’s technology to target specific handsets with video capabilities in 160 countries. “Coke is eager to reach its customers on the mobile phone as it is a highly personal device,” said Tom Daly, group manager of strategy and planning for Coca-Cola, Atlana. The announcement was made at the MSN Strategic Account Summit in Seattle late last week.

Fergie, Verizon the First to Offer Wireless Concert Tickets

Here’s a Fergalicious new way to use your mobile device, as a concert ticket. For the Black Eyed Peas front woman’s first solo tour, the Dutchess and Verizon are leveraging the cell phone in a whole new way. No paper tickets will be sold for any of the concerts.  Instead, when fans strut through the entrance gates to this Thank You concert, they will flash their Picture Message tickets sent over-the-air directly to their Verizon Wireless handsets, according to a release. There will also be green screens at all 20 tour stops that will allow fans to dance and sing to Fergie tunes and create personal video messages that will be sent directly to their mobile phones. Additionally, a select group of fans will have a chance to show off their Fergie fashions on stage at a fashion show sponsored by Candie’s. To enter and have a chance to model, fashion conscious fans can submit photos to the Fergie Mobile Fashion Meter. Fergie-TV is  also launching on Verizon Wireless’ V CAST Video on-demand service as of May 21. It will include a variety of clips about fashion, style and relationships. “Everyone uses their mobile phone to stay in touch so why shouldn’t artists stay connected to fans the same way?” Fergie said in a statement.  “When we planned our tour, we planned the wireless interactivity.  The technology even gives me a chance to say thank you to my fans and make every one of them a VIP.” Her tour kicks off tonight in Seattle.

Alltel Offers All Day Access

This is interesting. For $1.49, Alltel customers get 24 hour pass to Alltel’s Axcess wireless Web service allowing users to search for ringbacks, ringtones, and wallpapers directly from their mobile phones without incurring additional charges. Kind of like a sampling program for mobile. Motricity, a provider of mobile content services and solutions, handles.

Consumers who "roll over" PointRoll MovieConnect online ads can enter their mobile number to receive local cinema listings and showtimes on their cell phones. Of course they are also inviting advertisers to distribute other "movie-related material with targeted text messages that increase brand awareness and ticket sales."
